The Cadillac Escalade is known for its size – even in the land of the free, it stands out from all of the other full-size SUV’s as something just that little bit bigger, perhaps even luxurious, one thing’s for sure, with it being so popular among celebrities and their flunkies, it is somewhat of a status symbol.

According to official sources, the start of production for the restyled Caddy Escalade started in late 2016, although it is being sold as the new for 2017 Model Year – head to your local dealer (or online!) to order your Escalade. Prices are up, but that won’t stop the sales.

As with the predecessor, the Escalade is unmistakably Cadillac, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been changes to the exterior; it’s at the front-end that that you’ll notice most of the Caddy influence, but even then, there are new updates.

The new 2017 Escalade is in the showroom at $73,395 – quite a price hike from the previous generations, is it worth the extra? That all depends on just how badly you want the latest one!

The Escalade is the first vehicle from Caddy that has used all LED lighting, this has resulted in some rather elegant lighting solutions, especially at the rear; a thin strip of LED lighting rises from the rear fender right to the roofline.
The top spec Escalade also uses LED lighting to illuminate the door handles, and while it sounds rather OTT, it does actually look quite good.

2017 Cadillac Escalade Is Really BIG

Dimensions of the new Caddy reveal just how big it is; Length 203.9”, Width 80.4”, Height 74.3” and a Wheelbase of 115.9”.
GM also announced the release of an extended version, traditionally called the ESV, the wheelbase is 130” and the overall length is 224.3”

The Escalade ESV has a significant amount of free space for all three rows of seats. Thus, unlike most vehicles with a three-row vehicle interior, the last row of seats in the ESV version has three full seats, which is why this car is considered to be eight-seater.

It should also be noted that thanks to the use of aluminum panels and components, the new generation Escalade is more than 1433 lbs lighter than the current model, that’s quite a saving and you can really feel the difference.

The Rest of It

The basis for the new Escalade is the K2XX platform, which has also seen use as the platform in the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Yukon and Chevy Tahoe – it’s a pretty popular platform!

However, it is inside the vehicle that Cadillac differentiate themselves; not only is the styling different, the materials used upgraded, but the whole feel and sound of the vehicle is significantly better than the shared platform models.

Powertrain and Transmission of the Cadillac Escalade 2017

Under the hood of the Escalade, you’ll find a V8, 6.2 liter gas powered engine, using EcoTec3 technology. Maximum power is around 420 BHP and torque is a fairly substantial 460 lb/ft, which should be plenty enough to accelerate this behemoth up to 60 in just 6.5 seconds – and believe us when we say this, that’s pretty rapid. No mileage figures have been released, but we don’t think there will be anything revolutionary there.
All the Escalades will be fitted with a six-speed auto transmission; the HydraMatic 6L80.

Like the previous generation car, the current version of this Sports Utility Vehicle will be available with two types of rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive. First, for fans of the car the 2017 Escalade will be available only in four-wheel drive performance. Other technical features: we can note that on the new 2017 Cadillac Escalade will be the Magnetic Ride Control suspension which is of the adaptive type and a large variety of electronic driver assistants.

2017 Cadillac Escalade equipment

In the list of standard equipment, 2017 Cadillac Escalade comes with advanced multimedia complex with a large touch-screen monitor. This complex has extensive integration capabilities with a variety of devices, including smartphones and tablet computers. The second display in the vehicle performs the role of the instrument panel. On its high-resolution screen is projected the image of the instrument and displays the data of the multimedia center.

Basic information is broadcast on the screen of the projection display. To ensure the safety, the car is equipped with a dedicated security function with complex satellite tracking.

Pure American Luxury

The Cadillac Escalade is considered to be one of the most prestigious car within the U.S., and sales numbers reflect that; despite a rather hefty price, it’s a great seller – over 41,000 units sold across the range in the U.S. and Canada.
This next version will be the fourth generation and will be produced in the facility at Arlington.
