Cadillac are marketing the CTS as a luxury sports sedan, they’ve even added aluminum race style pedals to give it a sporty look and feel, but for us, if the rumors are true, it’s going to be severely outgunned in the power stakes unless Caddy introduce another motor with more get up and go.
We like the idea of a sporty luxury car, but we just think that the Caddy is missing something, perhaps when the new model is introduced, Cadillac will have found that missing something.
2018 Cadillac CTS Release date
There has been no official release date, but we think that the new 2018 Cadillac CTS will be in the showrooms from the middle part of 2017, perhaps just going in to the third quarter.

Expect to see the Caddy CTS starting in the region of $46,000, depending on choices, options checked and engines fitted.

Cadillac haven’t yet confirmed much about the new CTS, least of all what is going to be under the hood. There are a number of rumors, and unless Caddy really do have a 400+ BHP motor under their belts, the CTS will be easily outgunned by the Europeans. Some say that a 3.6 liter V6 will be fitted (which makes sense due to the V6 being the smoothest of the V motors), but at 300 BHP, that just isn’t enough. Other insiders are insisting that there will be a 2.0 liter twin turbo producing 270 BHP (which would work for the base model) and some say that there will be a 400+ BHP version.
Whatever is fitted, Caddy have gone all in to give the rest of the car sporty credentials; they are fitting genuine Recaro sports seats, Brembo brakes and a number of other race car styled or inspired features. On paper, the vehicle spec’s look great.
On the exterior, we’ll see the usual updates; restyled headlamps, bumper and grille, and the CTS will be fitted with the Cadillac signature vertical tail lights.
Overall, the CTS should be lighter, perhaps as much as 100 lbs thanks mainly to the use of aluminum and carbon fiber in the construction, rumors say that the hood will be a mixture of both, but it’s possible that Caddy will incorporate them in the platform or shell construction.
If Caddy fit the right engine, we have no doubt that the CTS will be a winner.
